Daymark

A newspaper layout with room for the whole story

Daymark is a newspaper WordPress theme for independent publications, local news sites and online magazines. It gives your homepage a clear lead story, a compact highlights grid, a news index and a discovery sidebar, so readers can find both the headline and the detail.

You publish through WordPress. Daymark handles the editorial presentation, with category controls for each homepage section and layouts that adapt to desktop, tablet and phone screens.

Put each section in its place

• Lead story: give one article a prominent image, headline and excerpt.
• Highlights: display three supporting stories in a compact grid.
• In focus: feature a story in a separate editorial spotlight.
• News index: show a paginated article list below the featured coverage.
• Sidebar: use the built-in article tabs and reading lists, or replace them with your own WordPress widgets.

A reading experience designed for smaller screens

The main layout becomes a single reading column on phones. Compact story rows keep the homepage useful without squeezing the headlines, while the menu drawer provides access to your navigation and search. Larger touch controls and readable form fields make common actions easier.

Make the publication your own

Set your logo, menus and social account links. Change the accent color, content width, body text size and local font families through the WordPress Customizer. Show or hide the breaking-news strip, highlights, spotlight, sidebar and dark-mode control. Each editorial section can draw from a category you choose.

Article pages with useful details

Daymark supports author and date metadata, reading time, related articles, previous and next story links, WordPress comments and an optional author biography. Articles can also show sharing controls and an automatic table of contents when they contain at least two headings.
