Current published package: Orivexa theme v0.9.14, Companion v0.10.1 and optional child theme v0.9.14. This guide supersedes earlier v0.9.1 instructions.

Note: The theme has not received independent production-site mobile certification. Image redistribution rights require additional confirmation. Back up and test before production deployment; replace demo media whose rights cannot be established.

1. Before installing

Requires WordPress 6.6 or later and PHP 7.4 or later (a supported PHP release is recommended). Back up the database, themes, plugins, uploads, and saved Site Editor templates. Importing a starter can add pages and change Reading settings if you authorize that checkbox.

2. Unzip the outer customer bundle

The download bundle contains separate ZIP files: orivexa-theme-0.9.14.zip, orivexa-companion-0.10.1.zip, and optional orivexa-child-0.9.14.zip. Do not upload the outer bundle as a WordPress theme.

3. Install the parent theme

  1. In WordPress, open Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme.
  2. Upload orivexa-theme-0.9.14.zip; install and activate it.
  3. Open Appearance → Editor to inspect header, footer and templates.

4. Install the companion

  1. Open Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.
  2. Upload and activate orivexa-companion-0.10.1.zip.
  3. The optional plugin provides starter importing, portfolio management and contact-form functionality.

5. Import a starter

Open Appearance → Orivexa Starters. Four starters are offered: Corporate Business, Creative Agency, Consulting / Professional Services and Portfolio / Studio. Corporate Business is the flagship and most developed.

Choose your starter and review the import choices for Media Library images, demonstration posts, fictional demo branding, homepage assignment and site navigation. Existing site content is preserved by the importer, but imported pages and settings are still changes to your website. Import to a staging installation first.

Important: Do not import multiple different starters over the same site. If an older installer set a starter reservation, follow the recovery notice rather than bypassing its safeguards.

6. Customize the design

Use Appearance → Orivexa Design for theme options and Appearance → Editor → Styles for native Gutenberg Global Styles. Adjust typography, colors, button presentation, header/footer and content width. Existing Site Editor customizations can take precedence over later theme defaults. Use Appearance → Orivexa Setup to inspect setup state.

7. Site identity and navigation

Change the default site title under Settings → General and the site logo in Appearance → Editor. Replace the fictional Northline sample brand, testimonials, links, email addresses and projects. Verify menu behavior and internal links on both mobile and desktop.

8. Portfolio and contact

When Companion is active, use its portfolio settings and custom project content to organize case studies. Configure contact fields and the recipient address; test an actual email message with appropriate SMTP/server settings. The presence of a form does not guarantee mail delivery.

9. Safe updates and troubleshooting

Back up before updating. Replace the theme ZIP and plugin ZIP separately. Custom Site Editor templates and site content remain database-managed and may override newly distributed templates. When layout changes do not appear, clear your cache, review saved templates, and check browser computed styles before adding override CSS.

10. Pre-launch checklist

  • Test all pages, buttons, menus and mobile breakpoints on the installed WordPress website.
  • Replace fictional example testimonials and business claims.
  • Confirm that demo photography is properly licensed for redistribution and use.
  • Verify project pages, forms, email delivery, accessibility and site loading performance.
  • Use your own true site identity and SEO metadata.
